Twilight News / welcomed the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, Sunday, to convene the meeting of the Iraqi Council of Ministers and associated meetings today in Erbil.
The embassy said in a statement received "Twilight News" that "This is another signal indicating that Iraqi leaders are committed to strengthening the state under the Iraqi constitution, and isolate terrorists and criminal groups who seek to sow sectarian strife."
According to the statement, "We are looking forward to holding the elections in Anbar and Nineveh in the coming weeks, and the return of the meetings of the Iraqi parliament, where Iraqi leaders have pledged to address the pending legislation, after a surge in violence last month."
The statement stressed that "the United States will continue to participate actively with the Iraqi government and the people who serve this government to promote our mutual interests, as was determined by the strategic framework agreement, including a commitment to the principles of democracy, according to the Iraqi constitution."
