Al-Maliki paid tribute to the role of the United Nations for its endeavours in Iraq out of Chapter VII

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki discussed with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, ongoing developments in the Iraqi file – Kuwait by telephone.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, said Thursday, "Al-Maliki yesterday, discussed with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, called the developments to resolve Iraq with Kuwait."

"Moon welcomed the progress in the bilateral relations between Iraq and Kuwait", stressing that "the Organization will do its utmost to remove Iraq from Chapter VII." 

"Al-Maliki praised the role of the United Nations and its support for the positions of Iraq, particularly in its efforts to get out of Chapter VII."
