Confirmed the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to adopt smart card system in the distribution of the ration card items will contribute to reducing poverty in the country, saying it would cover the areas experiencing natural disasters while reducing wastage occurring with public money.He said the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers on relations (IMN) "regardless of the material in these e-card that will aim to reduce poverty in all regions of Iraq."
"The areas exposed to natural disasters can be provided with ration card items and concentrate on the poorest areas.
He said that the "period of preparation for entering data one and a half years of the project start date."
He added that "the domestic market will be under control by installing some materials prices with the possibility of supporting the Iraqi Government in the event of food prices."
Said WFP Director Edward Kallon (IMN) that "the poverty rate will be reduced from 34% to 23% nationwide after the food card system electronic application."
"The project will be launched with the opening of the 800 e-food cards registration center, distributed in all regions of Iraq and will continue to process input 36 months to implement the MasterCard global company."
